From the Ground-Breaking to the Hand-Over Plaque at Ke Hamlet

On the morning of 28 July 2025, Ke hamlet welcomed visitors who had not come for a brief gift-giving, but to begin a longer piece of work. At the Hoang Van Thu Kindergarten satellite school, representatives of the Fund, of the education partner, of the local authorities, of the school and of the parents all gathered for the day work began on renovating the classrooms and the playground for the new school year. More than two months later, the work was finished and handed over to the school.

The scope of the project covered the repair of two classrooms totalling 80 m² and the renovation of the playground. These are the spaces that hold almost the whole of a kindergarten child’s day: learning, playing, eating, resting and forming their first habits. When a classroom decays or a playground is unsafe, every part of caring for children becomes harder.

Construction started on 8 August 2025 and ran on into the middle of October. Mending a wall, treating a classroom floor or rebuilding a play area is never merely a matter of appearance. Each such item aims to reduce risk, to let teachers run activities more easily and to give the children a friendly environment through the 2025–2026 school year.

On 12 October 2025 the work was handed over to the school. The hand-over ceremony was held that October on the yard of the satellite school itself, attended by representatives of the Fund, of the education partner, of the local authorities, of the school board, teachers, parents and the community. That so many sides were present shows a satellite school does not belong to the school alone. It is shared space for a whole community, where everyone can add a part so that children may learn in better conditions.

From that day the satellite school went back to its ordinary rhythm inside the two newly renovated classrooms. A renovated classroom may make no loud change, but its effect is there in every single day: children walk into class without having to skirt the unsafe spots; teachers can run activities with peace of mind. Those small changes are the ground on which going to school becomes a steady, positive experience.

For the parents, the change is measured by something plain: less worry when they leave a child at class. On the classroom wall, the project plaque records the two dates of the work — renovation and upgrading from 8 August 2025, hand-over on 12 October 2025 — so that anyone who comes to the satellite school can set the promise first made against the building now standing in front of them.

The journey at Ke hamlet began with two classrooms and a play area, but what remains is larger than any construction item. It is a safer school year, the confidence of parents, and the chance for small footsteps to come closer to knowledge in a space tended by the responsibility of a whole community.

What changed

The renovation and upgrading of the Hoang Van Thu Kindergarten satellite school in Ke hamlet, Chan Thinh commune, Lao Cai was completed and handed over to the school on 12 October 2025.
